Hello World

So much to say. So much going on. And only one post can be the first one. Tough choice.

And perhaps because of this indecisiveness, will I simply use this opportunity to draft the outlines for my digital persona.

I'm Emilio Longoria, a Digital Designer and Concept Developer based in Copenhagen. A dual Mexican and Spanish citizen, I adopted Denmark as my home country in May 2021.

And even though this digital portfolio mostly showcases a few highlights of my professional trajectory, I become more and more aware of the importance of documenting and sharing the ordinary side of me.

Outcomes don't say so much about anyone. Behind flashy results, there may - or may not be - profound learning, growth, change, and uncountable, unspoken variables that are just as relevant.

My passion for Digital Design and Concept Development lays not only my fondness for the specific tasks related to this field, but primarily on my vision, my purpose in life, may I even say.

When I was about ten years old, I decided I wanted to become an architect. This became my dream and obsession, and it stayed for many years to come. During all of my teen years, I was convinced my life would be nothing other than architecture, urbanism, and politics in my country of origin - despite my equally long, and equally strong passion for technology and digital interaction.

While I could (and likely will) write multiple pages about my career and country shift, the manifest is this: my passion for architecture doesn't originate from architecture itself, and my passion for digital design and concept development does not originate from this discipline in and on itself. The core of my passion is creating experiences that contribute to the progress of our civilisation and enrich the lives of their users.

Yes, it clearly sounds very ambitious and utopian. But translated to more down-to-earth terms - what I aim for as an individual is to leverage technology for the common good, to make life exciting, and to allow us to concentrate on what matters the most, which is being present, connected, aware and physically and mentally healthy.

Again, it seems I cannot begin to describe the vision of the world I want to help create without dissipating into abstract, marvellous concepts that seem more fittingly for a social-sciences person rather than a digital designer and concept developer. But I truly understand myself as part of a greater something, and whatever I do, I direct it towards that vision - no matter how small or trivial. We all are small pieces of something big, but nevertheless significant - or even crucial.

In my future entries, I will explore and discuss a wide variety of issues that concern my profession, interests, curiosity, and vision. Likely often unrelated to precisely digital design and concept development - but part of a bigger picture.
